Teddies
for Loving Care
(Registered Charity No. 1087765)
Cuddly friends for Glan Clwyd's A & E Department
The Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board has recently launched a scheme in partnership withNorth Wales Freemasons to provide cuddly teddy bears to children under seven attending A&E Departments at their acute hospitals.
The staff are able to offer young patients a small teddy bear to help alleviate their potential distress and teddy receives the same treatments as the child. The teddies then go home with the patients, who are encouraged to bring them with them to any subsequent outpatient visits.
The Teddies for Loving Care (TLC) scheme is funded by money donated by the Freemasons of the Province of North Wales (Hint) and was initially launched in March at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor by the Provincial Grand Master, Ieuan Redvers Jones. This week the initiative was extended to Glan Clwyd hospital when the first batch of colourful teddies was delivered.
Ieuan Redvers Jones from the Freemasons said: "I hope that in undertaking this simple scheme, the level of public awareness of the contribution made to the community by Freemasonry will be increased."
Carole Price Jones, Clinical Nurse Manager at Glan Clwyd hospital said: "The bears will make it easier for the department to treat young children without causing them too much distress and they feel less anxious seeing that teddy gets the same treatment. The fact that they then get to keep the bear also serves as a small reward."
Receiving the mountain of bears at the hospital is Jessica Jones (Aged 4) who was the first to take one home. Ffrindiau meddal ar gyfer Adran D&A Glan Clwyd
Mae Bwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Betsi Cadwaladr wedi lansio cynllun yn ddiweddar
mewn partneriaeth â Seiri Rhyddion Gogledd Cymru i roi tedi bêrs i blant o dan
saith oed sy'n gorfod mynd i Adrannau Damwain ac Argyfwng yn eu hysbytai llym.
Mae'r staff yn gallu cynnig tedi bêr bychan i helpu i leddfu eu pryderon ac
mae tedi yn derbyn yr un triniaethau â'ch plentyn. Yna mae'r tedis yn mynd adref
gyda'r cleifion, sy'n cael eu hannog i ddod â'r tedis gyda nhw i unrhyw apwyntiad
dilynol yn yr adran cleifion allanol.
Mae'r cynllun Tedis yn Rhoi Gofal a Chariad (TLC) yn cael ei ariannu'n llwyr
gan y Seiri Rhyddion yng Ngogledd Cymru ac fe'i lansiwyd yn y lle cyntaf ym
mis Mawrth yn Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor gan Uchel Feistr Taleithiol y Seiri Rhyddion,
Ieuan Redvers Jones. Yr wythnos hon, ymestynnwyd y cynllun i Ysbyty Glan Clwyd
lle danfonwyd y swp cyntaf o dedis lliwgar.
Dywedodd Ieuan Redvers Jones o'r Seiri Rhyddion: "Gyda'r cynllun syml hwn
rydym yn gobeithio y bydd ymwybyddiaeth y cyhoedd o'r cyfraniad a wna'r Seiri
Rhyddion i'r gymuned yn cynyddu."
Dywedodd Carole Price Jones, Nyrs Reolwr Clinigol yn ysbyty Glan Clwyd: "Bydd
y tedis yn ei gwneud hi'n haws i'r adran drin plant iau heb achosi gormod o
ofid iddynt a'u bod yn teimlo'n llai pryderus o weld bod tedi'n cael yr un driniaeth.
Mae'r ffaith eu bod yn cael cadw'r tedi wedyn yn eu gwobrwyo."
Jessica Jones (4 oed) yn derbyn y mynydd cyntaf o dedis, a hi oedd y cyntaf
i fynd ag un adref gyda hi. Y tu ôl (Chwith i'r dde) Norman Venner (Trysorydd
Taleithiol, Gogledd Cymru) David Gibbinson (Cadeirydd TLC Gogledd Cymru) ac
Ieuan Redvers Jones (Uchel Feistr Taleithiol, Gogledd Cymru)

Cost of administration?
How much of the appeal money goes on admin?
Absolutely nothing, time and facilities are donated.
We do spend less than 1% on fund-raising and PR, but every penny of the remainder is used to purchase the teddies or urgently needed paediatric equipment for A & E units. Click here to read more - Link
