Origins of the TLC Appeal
The Origins of the Appeal and the Compulsive Idea
The Appeal originated after an allergic reaction suddenly caused the swelling and blocking of the windpipe of the wife of an Essex Freemason.
Her life was saved by the rapid action of the medical staff at an A & E unit, who were able to resuscitate and stabilise her.
They are both eternally grateful for the swift and caring attention that she received, but found the experience the most frightening of their lives and speculated on the distress that children must face when visiting A & E units.
He asked members of his Lodge and other Local Freemasons to help to do something useful as a thank you to the A & E unit and its staff.
From that point the compulsive idea of "Teddies for Loving Care" was born. Click here to read more - Link

TLC NEWS October 2011
TLC North Wales continues to grow and continues to be well received at all our chosen outlets throughout the Province since first being introduced at Ysbyty Gwynedd Hospital Bangor in late March 2009.The scheme is now fully operational at Wrexham Maelor Hospital, Glan Clwyd Hospital, the Air Ambulance Service both in Newtown and Caernarfon and finally at the Children's Hospice Ty Gobaith in the Conway valley. The scheme has now become an essential tool for staff in the A&E units when caring for children in trauma and has received much acclaim from both staff and patients alike.
To quote a senior Staff nurse from Glan Clwyd hospital "we don't know how we managed without our Teddy Bears", praise indeed. Thanks must go to our dedicated team of "Bear Men" who monitor each A&E unit on a regular basis and re supply as and when required.
A milestone was reached in the scheme in August this year, we have now supplied in excess of 10,000 Teddy Bears to our various outlets, which is a remarkable achievement and represents many children and families who have received support from our scheme. To mark this event and in recognition of his generous support to the scheme the Provincial Grand Master was invited to be Patron of TLC North Wales to which he accepted with pleasure and we are delighted to have his support and backing

Collection of TLC Merchandise for you to buy - See below for better details
To keep this important scheme running and to continue to supply the hospitals, Air Ambulance and the Children's Hospice with our teddy bears we need your support and donations. The flow of money into the scheme has eased since first being introduced in 2009; we respectfully request each lodge in the Province to donate £50.00 per year and each Chapter to donate £25.00. Many Lodges and Chapters have already made direct debit arrangements for which we are most grateful. Please check with your Lodge or Chapter Charity Steward/Treasurer to make sure your payments to TLC are up to date. Over the past year much time and effort has gone into identifying new merchandise for you to buy to help in our fund raising efforts, all these new Items are now available through the Provincial Web Site or via your Lodge/Chapter Charity Steward. We also now have supplies of new pattern Teddy bears for you to use for fund raising at Christmas Functions or Ladies Evenings
Finally thank you to all connected with the TLC Appeal without whose help and dedication the scheme would not be possible, Let us now hope with your continued support the scheme will continue to go from strength to strength.

Cost of administration?
How much of the appeal money goes on admin?
Absolutely nothing, time and facilities are donated.
We do spend less than 1% on fund-raising and PR, but every penny of the remainder is used to purchase the teddies or urgently needed paediatric equipment for A & E units. Click here to read more - Link
